What sets Haugen Elementary apart?

Haugen Elementary has been a part of families for generations. I attended, my niece and nephews attended and now our son. I am excited to see more generations be part of this historical school.

Many of the friendships that started at Haugen, I still have to this day. It did not matter if you were a student, teacher, staff member, or parent it always felt like a family. I could not have asked for a better school to be raised in.

What sets Haugen apart is that, because it's so small, kids are given the extra attention and help in their academics and overall wellbeing. I was able to get the extra help I needed to make sure I succeeded when I left Haugen. Its small community creates lasting friendships. One of my best friends today, I met in 2nd grade. Her mom then taught us in 3rd grade, and our families have been very close ever since. Haugen gave me so many good memories, people, community and life skills.

Our two children positively benefited from the one track school of Haugen Elementary. Highly connected and invested teacher started tracking the learning needs of each student upon initial enrollment at Haugen Elementary. We were so impressed how older grade teachers already knew so much about our little learners upon entering their classroom. The strong sense of community provided a safe experience for all the students. The student to teacher ratio promoted individualized instruction within the scope of the whole class curriculum. We appreciate all teachers in the district, especially those providing quality education to classrooms with a large census.

I attended Haugen school when it opened in 1994. My oldest child then attended and had the same kindergarten teacher that I had. I returned many many times throughout the years for various occasions. It’s still the same welcoming school. Every teacher knows every child. Every child is seen known and loved. 

This close knit community has stood up every single time there is a need to ensure that every child receives unmatched education and support. It’s a beautiful gem tucked away where kids get to stay kids a little bit longer.

Children don’t just attend this school. They thrive in more areas than just educational.
